ASCE YMF Job Shadow Program
Have you ever wondered what it would be like in your choice of career?
Are you aware of the different disciplines within the civil and environmental engineering industry?
Would you know what responsibilities you would take on once you enter the workforce?
Are you aware of the different disciplines within the civil and environmental engineering industry?
Would you know what responsibilities you would take on once you enter the workforce?
These are just one of the many question most college students ask themselves as they near graduation. Many will often go through school not knowing what to expect once they graduate and enter the workforce. The ASCE Hawaii Section YMF Job Shadow Program offers students the unique opportunity to shadow working professionals in the office and/or field work settings. Students are paired with a working professional in the field of their preference to observe everyday responsibilities, skills, communication and activities while in a working environment. Students will observe and interact with individuals at the host company as they go about the company’s daily responsibilities. Students will gain valuable knowledge about the discipline(s) of choice within the civil engineering community.
Any level student enrolled in the University of Hawaii system and is a part of the ASCE Student Chapter may apply for a one-time, two to four hour job shadow. Scheduling will be done with the YMF Job Shadow Chair following match with host mentor/company.
