Community Service

Zayd Hussain
Mechanical Engineering, Junior
[email protected]

Aloha! My name is Zayd Hussain, and I’m honored to serve as one of the Community Service Chairs for ASCE. I graduated from Valencia High School in Santa Clarita, California, in 2023 and am currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Hawaiʻi.

For the 2025–2026 academic year, my focus is to expand our club’s involvement in ʻāina-based community service. As engineers, we have the power to design and build innovative solutions, but we also carry a responsibility to understand and respect the land we impact, especially here in Hawaiʻi, where our surroundings are deeply connected to culture and community. I hope to lead initiatives that not only give back but also encourage us to think critically about sustainability and our role as stewards of the environment.

Outside of ASCE, you’ll probably find me volunteering in any loʻi I can, working on UH’s Formula SAE car, or designing new gear, my long-term goal is to become the real-life Iron Man! One of the best things about ASCE is the sense of ʻohana you feel the moment you join. No matter your major, you’re welcomed with open arms, and the experiences and skills I’ve gained here continue to shape me as an engineer and person.

Aloha, I am Lovely Molina, one of the Outreach Chair for the American Society of Civil Engineers at UH Manoa. I am a class of 2024 grad from Farrington High School. Outside of school, some of my hobbies are baking, dancing, and cafe hunting. As one of the outreach chair of the club I plan on having at least 5 outreach per semester and doing a minimum of 10 for the whole year. I also hope to reach out to more school and teach the younger generations more about engineering in general not just about civil engineering. I hope to inspire the younger generation to become engineers themselves.
