Concrete Canoe
The Concrete Canoe Competition involves earning points for paddling races, a design paper, an oral presentation, and a final product. For the construction of a competitive canoe, students on the concrete canoe team put countless man-hours into ideas for a hull design, experimenting with different mix designs, and conducting strength tests to determine the best concrete mix for producing a sturdy yet buoyant and lightweight product. The team also acquires hands-on experience in creating a mold for the canoe and paddling to compete in a series of races. After months of paddling practice, the team placed 3rd in Women's Sprint, 2nd in Men's Sprint, 3rd in Women's Slalom, and 2nd in Men's Slalom. They also placed 1st for their Technical Presentation. Overall, the Canoe team placed 2nd overall at PSWS 2024.
